What to know.
Curtains come in two layers. Main curtains are heavier fabrics, usually lined, that give privacy and darken the room at night. Sheers are light, translucent fabrics that filter daylight and soften the view without hiding it. Most rooms have both on a double track, so you can switch between them through the day.
The look comes from the fabric, the heading and the fullness. We help you choose pinch pleats, eyelets or ripple folds, and a lining from light-filtering to blackout, then stitch each curtain to the height and width of its window and fit the tracks or rods.

Main
The heavier curtain of the pair, made in a lined fabric that screens the room from outside and, with a blackout lining, keeps out the light as well. It hangs in deep, even folds from a ceiling track or a rod, draws back to the sides of the window by day, and closes fully at night.

Sheer
A light, translucent curtain that filters daylight, softens glare and keeps the room private by day while the view still shows through. A sheer hangs on its own, or on the inner line of a double track behind main curtains, so you can draw either one.
